Redwood, European Pinus sylvestris Density: 510kg/m3 Description: The sapwood is creamy white to yellow in colour, narrow especially in northern environments. The heartwood is pale yellowish brown. Working Properties: It works easily and well with both hand and machine tools. It is capable of a smooth, clean finish. Can be glued, stained, varnished and painted satisfactorily. Physical Properties: It dries rapidly but owing to its tendency to develop sap stain it should be anti-stain dipped. For its weight it is strong and moderately hard. Durability: Non durable. Main Uses: Constructional work, joinery, carcassing, house building. printable page
