There is no difference in colour between the sapwood and
the heartwood, the wood being white or yellowish white. It is generally
straight grained and the texture is fine.
Working Properties:
Fairly easy to work and capable
of a fine smooth finish when straight grained. Material with a wavy or curly
grain picks up when planeing and moulding.
Physical Properties:
Dries well but is inclined to
stain, rapid surface drying is necessary to prevent this.
Durability:
Perishable.
Main Uses:
Turnery, work surfaces brush handles and flooring.
