Table Top Slabs of Cedar of Lebanon Landed

cedar of lebanon slabs

The guys at Thorogood Timber are getting excited over the delivery of some new and unusual stock, now available to view in the slab gallery – it’s absolutely massive!

These boards of Cedar of Lebanon are truly impressive, the widest measuring in at a mind boggling 1200mm, which is a hair’s breadth short of not being able to pass through our sander in one piece… Full of character, with bark inclusions; large, live knots and gorgeous shakes and splits – these boards are a set of hairpin legs away from making a commanding table-top or desk in any home, especially if the waney edges are preserved.

Slowly seasoned and then Kiln dried, it’s perfect for use internally and is full of rich, mellow tones and a broad distinctive grain. The best thing is that this cedar was, believe it or not, grown in the UK! Cut from windfall and park grown trees – originally planted centuries ago as specimen examples in the gardens of the great and good – Cedar of Lebanon is a truly ecologically sound alternative to tropical hardwood species from the rain forest – beautiful, unique, sustainable timber: what’s not to love?
